What our evaluations include

Our evaluations are

  • Comprehensive- we take the time to thoroughly assess, observe, and interview to determine if a student meets eligibility criteria

  • Professional- we aim to be a bridge between the parents and the school districts so that everyone is on the same page in regards to the student’s qualifications for special education

  • Highly specialized and experienced. We have a lot of experience in the schools and in addition, we’re a team of educators who care about the students we serve. Testing can be a challenging process for a student. We’re empathetic and supportive with the students we work with.

What to know about IEEs

This is what you should know if you feel that your child’s access to a free and appropriate education is not being met and they have not qualified for additional support, here’s what you need to do next

  • Request an IEE from the school district and before seeking out an independent assessor, receive district’s approval for payment

  • Seek out an assessor! Give us a call to see if we’re the right fit.

  • The assessor will then come to an agreement with the district on payment. Parents and guardians, you should not be paying for any part of this assessment in most cases!

An Independent Educational Evaluation can be a powerful tool for parents and educators to gain a deeper, clearer understanding of a student’s unique needs. While school district evaluations are valuable, they may not always address all areas that impact learning. By providing a fresh perspective and a more detailed assessment, an IEE can reveal insights that lead to a more effective, individualized educational approach, setting the child up for greater success both academically and socially.

We Evaluate in the following areas:

  • A speech therapy IEE is an in-depth assessment by a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) that examines a child’s communication skills, including expressive and receptive language, social (pragmatic) language, articulation, fluency, voice, and auditory processing. Through standardized testing, observational assessments, and input from parents and teachers, the SLP evaluates how well the child understands and uses language, interacts socially, produces sounds, and manages fluency and vocal quality. The evaluation identifies specific strengths and challenges, guiding targeted recommendations like tailored speech therapy interventions, classroom accommodations (e.g., visual supports or extra response time), and, if needed, collaboration with other specialists to support the child’s academic and social success.

  • A psychoeducational IEE is a thorough evaluation that assesses a child’s cognitive abilities, academic skills, executive functioning, attention, memory, language, and social-emotional development to understand barriers to learning and well-being. Conducted by a psychologist, it combines standardized tests, behavioral observations, and input from parents and teachers to identify strengths, challenges, and possible learning disabilities or behavioral concerns. The results guide tailored recommendations for academic support, behavioral interventions, and accommodations (such as extra test time or organizational aids), helping schools and families create a supportive environment for the child’s educational and personal growth.

  • An occupational therapy (OT) IEE is a comprehensive evaluation that examines a child’s fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, executive functioning, and social interaction abilities to understand how these impact daily school activities and learning. Through standardized tests, performance-based tasks, and observations, the OT assesses areas like hand coordination, balance, sensory responses, and social participation. Findings guide targeted interventions and recommendations for classroom accommodations, adaptive supports, and, if needed, collaboration with other services to ensure the child can fully engage and succeed in their educational environment.
